MAIN TOPIC: Why Should Runners Structure Training?
Have you ever heard the term periodization? Are you familiar with it? Periodization in running is working on key elements at different points in your training to maximize them for growth during a stretch of time. They are designed to give you the greatest results for scheduled race or season of racing.
You want to use periodization if you are looking to have a peak race season.
During this episode we share different phases of periodization including what workouts to do and when. To help us discuss the topic is 2x Olympic Trials marathoner Jed Christiansen.
About our guest: Jed Christiansen

Jed Christiansen started running at an early age. His first ever full 5k was at the age of 3 years old. Running was part of their family culture and the fun they had together.
At age 8, Jed ran his first full marathon in 3:37;26, which still stands the 8 year old American marathon record.
Jed ran collegiately for Calvin College and since then has run for Playmakers Elite Racing. During his post-collegiate years he has seen a lot of success, most notably as a 2-time Olympic Trials Marathon qualifier.
As a student of the sport of running, Jed has maintained longevity and success through his desire to understand and improve training methods.
