Craig Marathon
#1. Millrose Games: Wanamaker Mile
- Men’s Wanamaker Mile
- Yared Nuguse American Record, 2 seconds off of Bernard Lagat’s time.
- Yared’s time… 3:47.38
- And only one American has run faster, indoors or out: Alan Webb, 3:46.91
- Close to the World Record, and now he is 2nd ALL TIME IN THE WORLD.
- Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha holds the record in 3:47.01
- How the race went down
- Perfectly paced by Eric Sowinski through the first half.
- Pack slowed way down in the 3rd 400m.
- Eased past Oliver Hoare with 2 laps to go.
- Yared finished in a blaze. 25.94 to be exact.
- Just want to remind you all, Nuguse has just obliterated two American records in the span of 16 days!!!!!!
- Other notable performances
- Nuguse won over Neil Gourley… who became the 6th fastest indoor miler in history, 3:49.46 (still more than two seconds behind Nuguse).
- Oliver Hoare, 3rd, matching his own Australian national record
- Mario Garcia Romo, last year’s 4th placer at the World Championships, ran a Spanish record in 3:51.79
- Yared Nuguse American Record, 2 seconds off of Bernard Lagat’s time.
- Women’s Wanamaker Mile
- Josette Andrews (Norris) led much for the way.
- Laura Muir let a couple ladies pass her, as she explained, to reevaluate her efforts for a strong finish.
- Laura won in a full on effort finish.
- In 6th place, Sintayehu Vissa of the OAC ran an Italian National Record 4:24.54
#2. Millrose Games: 3,000m Run
- Women’s 3000m
- Alicia Monson won in a narrow American Record performance to snatch the win and break the American Record.
- #7 on the all-time indoor 3000 list (and #1 for athletes born outside of Ethiopia).
- Laura Galvan broke the Mexican 3000m national record.
- Katelyn Tuohy was third running 8:35.20 to shatter Karissa Schweizer’s previous collegiate record of 8:41.60.

- 3. Katelyn TUOHY USA 8:35.20

- Men’s 3000m
- Let’s Run is calling the Men’s 3000m the biggest surprise. “If you asked us for the biggest upset at Millrose, it would be Josh Kerr winning the men’s 3000.”
- The 3000m is an unfamiliar distance for Kerr.
- Geordie Beamish improved his own national record in the 3000m.
- Kerr moved from the middle with 2 laps to go.
- Looked incredibly strong through the line.

#3. Dubai Marathon was a family affair

- Women’s marathon
- The women’s race was won by 26-year-old Dera Dida, wife of the Eugene World Champion Marathon winner in 2022, Tamirat Tola.
- Dida Yami, Dera (ETH) – 02:21:11
- 5th and 7th in Dubai
- Dera Dida won in a 2:21:11 personal best in the marathon. This is her first placement better than 5th in a marathon.
- Also a mother.
- She was the 2019 World Cross Country silver medalist. Also fast on the track.
- She broke away with about 5min left, She negative split (well over a minute faster than the first half)
- Men’s marathon:
- 22 year old Abdisa Dola, younger brother of Tamirat Tola, won the men’s event.
- He did not lead until the very end. He ran a smooth and calculated race to finish strong and take the win.

- Started pressing with 5k to go.
- Really had a massive lead by 1k.
- He also trains with Tamirat Tola.
